For the third time, Clear Channel has awarded the best digital out-of-home campaign and, for the first time, has presented the Charity Award for the best campaign by an NGO or NPO as well as the Rookie Award for the best campaign by a start-up or a DOOH newcomer.
Clear Channel looked at all campaigns between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 and selected the campaigns to include on the voting platform. Advertising clients and employees of creative agencies then voted on the shortlist of campaigns to be put forward to the jury. Finally, the broad-based jury selected the winner of the DOOH Award and the Charity Award. The award ceremony took place on 17 November at the AMERON Zurich.
Last year’s Digitec Galaxus Christmas campaign was selected as the best campaign and is the winner of the 2021 DOOH Award. The campaign stood out in all three criteria: message, technology and medium, and creative idea.
Martin Walthert, Chief Marketing Officer, Digitec Galaxus AG said, ‘We are extremely pleased that our work has received such high recognition, especially in this category. DOOH is a relatively new medium and there’s a big creative playing field where a lot of things are still a matter of trial and error. In any case, it’s clear that the medium will remain significant in the future and it’s all the more valuable to gain good experience in this area now.’
Charity Award and Rookie Award
Street magazine Surprise was chosen as the winner of the Charity Award for its campaign on the publication of its 500th issue. Andreas Jahn, Head of Communication at Surprise, said, ‘This award is a clear testament to our dedicated, skilled journalism and great recognition for all Surprise vendors.’
Clear Channel selected the winner of the Rookie Award, which went to the Swiss Vegan Society. Raphael Neuburger, Chair of the Swiss Vegan Society, said, ‘The Swiss Vegan Society is honoured to receive the Rookie Award. It recognises the creativity to be found within the company’s own ranks. It’s also a tribute to how a serious topic can be presented and communicated in a humorous way. Often a solution is right in front of us, even if it’s saving the planet; as we say, “Houston, we have a solution”. This is what we work toward day after day.’
